How to change “EXTENSION” of a file !
If you want to hide a file from other users, you can hide it but there is a way to prevent to file while it is displaying.
Example: A file which is video file and you don’t want to hide but you want that no anybody can watch that file without you but when you need to watch you can change that’s file real extension and watch again, so in this blog you get to change the extension of a file to protect it.
1. Go to My Computer.
2. Click on Organize.
3. Click on Folders and Search Options.
4. Click on “VIEW” tab.
5. Un-check on “Hide Extensions For Unknown file types”.
Now go to file, of which change extension of file
6. Right click on file and click on RENAME.
7. Change last 3 letters of the file after dot.
For Example: Avseq.Dat change into Avseq.exe
8. Now Go to My Computer.
9. Click on Folders and Search Options.
10. Click on “VIEW” tab.
11. Check on “Hide Extensions for Unknown file types”.
After Rename that video file can’t play and because you have change extension of that video file into exe file that’s why its icon changed into exe file.
